am aware of that (Classic is inactive and gradually dying), but you're welcome to try. Remember, I want Classic to be retired. It's part of MaidMarian.com's history, not the present. A site that calls itself a memorial to Sherwood Classic is entirely appropriate. Taking it right off the site seemed heavy handed however had I done that long ago, this would be a non-issue now. I don't want a community of players to die out, however I want players to migrate to Dungeon because I don't have the resources to support Classic. I have needed to make a number of updates to classic to support the new servers - so it's already a timesink. First I'm asked not to take Classic off the site, then I'm asked for a link on the main page, then I'm sure I'll be asked for new features for a game that's been retired. The "tactics" you've described (hacker attacks) also guaranteed that Classic will continue in it's current status. Many of the players also treat Classic as their own secret playhouse.(i.e. Dungeon is for the masses, Classic is for the hardcore) Linking to it would actually be counterproductive because I guarantee that would totally change or destroy your small community.
I will continue to leave Classic as is - abandoned if that's how you choose to call it. It is up to the players and sites like yours to maintain a community around Classic if that is how you feel. I have no interest in attempting to expand the player base or including a link. I have left the game on the site so that players like yourself who like the game can still play, however I have moved on and consider Sherwood Dungeon to be the current version of that line of work.
I have given my final word on this matter long ago and I have not changed my mind.
It appears Classic is fully cared for by Gene. Just not wanting it on the site, eh? Says that it does.
Y'know? I wonder if we can get someone to take it off of Gene's hands. take the game, put it on said person's own Server and do dandy with it. Heke, maybe just Mail Gene a check that in closes money to be paid for Classic? lol.
Oh..and.....
The "tactics" you've described (hacker attacks) also guaranteed that Classic will continue in it's current status.
I don't know if he's talking about The Combos (Which is NOT a Hack. No Third party program needed) or real Hacks. If he is talking about Hacks....Then, lol, those hackers who did all that crap guarenteed Classic's Indefinite stay off of the Homepage.
H3!!....If hacks is the case, then Those hackers has freaking kept Classic of the site forever. Peh, no use crying over Spilt Milk that had dried into the Carpet of Damnation forever.
If Gene means Combos....Then....Uhh...Well, I don't friggin know if I'd want to give up Combos for it to be on the homepage (As if it were...). It wouldn't get updated save for the Techniqual stuff. Sooo...........Meh.
